IATEFL PERU Conference Saturday 28-12-2013

IATEFL PERU Conference Saturday 28-12-2013
International Association of Teachers of English as a Foreing Language

As the year 2013 comes to a close, it is crucial that we, ELT practitioners, reflect on our own professional development (i.e., what we have learned from being in the field) (Erlanson & Beach, 2008; Schön 1991; Underhill, 1999). It is also essential that we learn to counteract the deficit perspective attached to our profession, especially in times of competition. Thus, this interactive session pursues three objectives. First participants will share their strengths achieved during the current academic year as well as their areas of growth. Second, the presenter and the participants will outline ways to overcome the challenges that they may face when teaching (e.g., when there are limited resources available). Finally, the presenter and the participants will devise a professional development checklist catering to their unique teaching contexts.
